Meet Dr. K, the Creator of Teddy in Trouble

As a kindergarden teacher, I saw how powerful it is when children actively participate in storytime instead of just listening passively. Wanting to better understand how to create the best conditions for learning, I pursued a doctorate in educational psychology at the University of Southern California. Through my research, I discovered that simply pausing to ask questions while reading helps build critical thinking and literacy skills—and strengthens the bond between parent and caregiver.

When I became a parent, I wanted to bring that same magic to my own children. That’s when I envisioned Teddy—a curious, mischievous character whose hilarious mishaps spark conversations. A few weeks later, as my son was born, so was the idea for Teddy in Trouble!

Sharing these stories with my kids has been a joy. The discussions we have while peeling back the layers of Teddy’s adventures bring us closer together and give me a front-row seat to how they make sense of their world. Each "TEDDYYY!!" moment is a chance to pause, ask questions, and learn together—turning storytime into a mindful moment for connection.

Now, I’m thrilled to share Teddy in Trouble with emerging readers everywhere. Designed for ages 2-6, these books and activities inspire playful learning, thoughtful conversations, and quality time for families.

So, what are you waiting for? Teddy… Set… Go!
